Fishing Shirts, from the water

Fishing t shirts drawn from my own underwater photos of the fish anglers chase. I have spent years photographing fish where they live, and these designs come straight from those frames: striped marlin, tarpon, snook, mahi mahi, barracuda, brown trout and gar, each one drawn in fine engraved lines that follow every scale, stripe and fin.

A lot of fish shirts are built from clip art. Every fish here started as a real photo in the water, so the proportions, the markings and the way each fish carries itself stay true to life. Most of the designs are laid out like a page from an old field guide, with the common name and the scientific name under the fish, so the brown trout reads BROWN TROUT, Salmo trutta, and the striped marlin reads STRIPED MARLIN, Kajikia audax.

Pick your fish

If you have one species you live for, the stacked designs run the same fish down the back from largest to smallest: brown trout, mahi mahi, gar, barracuda, striped marlin, tarpon and snook. The tarpon comes from a dive in Belize, where I photographed one gliding through a reef canyon, and the snook from years of shooting them in Florida rivers and coastal water.

The shirt

The field guide designs are printed on a heavyweight 100% cotton tee, 7.7 oz (260 gsm), with a relaxed, loose fit and a crew neck, in Black, Dark Gray and White, sizes S to 2XL. Black and Dark Gray get white lettering, White gets black lettering, and the fish art is the same on all three. The front stays simple, a small fish and Life Through Water on the left chest, and the full artwork goes on the back. The original Mahi Mahi T-Shirt is on my snow washed 7.4 oz oversized tee in Pirate Gray, Light Gray and Blue Jeans.

One honest note: these are cotton t shirts for wearing, not performance fishing shirts. They are not UPF rated or quick dry, so on a long day under full sun wear your sun shirt on the water and put this one on at the dock, on the drive home and at dinner afterward.
