Protecting the ocean, one photograph at a time
Ever since I was a child the ocean has held a very special place in my heart. For the last two decades I have sought to explore and capture the splendour of our underwater kingdoms, and in that time I have watched the ocean face more and more.
Donating a portion of every print sale to marine conservation means you and I both give back a little to the water that matters so much. A portion of every sale is donated to marine conservation organizations.

Why ocean conservation matters
The oceans cover over 70% of our planet, which makes them an essential component of Earth’s ecosystem. These vast waters are not only home to countless marine species, they regulate the climate, produce oxygen and support global food security.
Human activity is depleting the oceans, threatening marine life and altering the balance of the world’s ecosystems. From pollution and overfishing to climate change and habitat destruction, the ocean faces urgent challenges that need action now.
Ocean conservation is critical to safeguarding the future of the planet, to the survival of marine species, and to the health of the ecosystems that support life on Earth. Every effort made to protect the ocean is a step toward preserving the biodiversity that sustains all of us.
My sustainability pledge
Photographing the ocean comes with a responsibility to protect it. I can’t claim to be perfect, but I can be honest about what I do today and what I’m still working toward.
In the field. I follow responsible marine-wildlife guidelines on every shoot. I never touch, chase, feed, or crowd the animals I photograph, I keep a respectful distance, and I stay conscious of my buoyancy and movement so I tread lightly on the reefs and fragile habitats around me. I wear reef-safe mineral sunscreen, free of oxybenzone and octinoxate. The wellbeing of the subject always comes before the shot.
In the studio. Prints are made to order rather than mass-produced, which keeps waste and overproduction to a minimum — and a portion of every print sale goes directly to the organizations working to protect our oceans.
What I’m working toward. I’m working to move my prints onto FSC-certified and bamboo-based archival papers and to shift toward plastic-free, recycled packaging. These are goals I’m actively building toward, not things I’ve already perfected.
The part I’m still reckoning with. Travel is the hardest piece to reconcile — reaching remote corners of the ocean carries a real carbon footprint, and I won’t pretend otherwise or buy an easy label to cancel it out. I’d rather be honest about where I fall short than overstate it. If bringing a piece of the ocean into your home can help protect it too, that’s exactly the point.
